SOCIAL PROJECTS
Social Projects are carried out every year as part of the social work organized by Fanusi. The Kenyan student participants are joined by international university students.
The project which lasts about 3 weeks benefits the particular community the students at the same time through the activities carried out.
Some of these activities include:
* Teaching
* Helping at local hospitals and/or dispensaries
* Constructing desks, painting walls of local schools among other tasks
Apart from appreciating having given themselves to other people, the students enjoy the company of one another, interacting and learning new cultures. They also gain a greater appreciation of the dignity of work, especially manual work. In short, the spirit behind the social projects is that of:
*Solidarity between the local and International students
*Self giving of both the community and the student participants
*Sharing of cultures and friendship
This year a group of Spanish students came for the rural project which took place at Umoja Primary School, in Limuru. They worked in the school helping repaint classrooms, redo floors and cleaning them. The medics in the group also medically examined the children and gave them medicine. The group did a wonderful job and were happy to interact with Kenyan participants and learn a new culture.
Some of the Spanish participants in the 2010 Social Project do a medical examination at Umoja Primary School, in Limuru.
