ABOUT FANUSI
Situated opposite the University of Nairobi Main Campus, this Centre for women university students was built in 1987 on a one-acre plot donated by the Kenya Government.
Fanusi serves as a forum for the professional and social development of the students who frequent the Centre and participate in activities such as leadership programmes, courses, workshops among others. They also benefit from the library and study facilities offered there.
Fanusi is a Swahili name for the lamp at the back of a dhow that guides other dhows safely to harbour. It is a project of Kianda Foundation which was opened in 1987 to cater for students from universities in Nairobi.
Our Vision: To bring about a positive change in society by working together with university women for their holistic personal development.
Our Mission Statement: To encourage the students to pursue academic excellence and foster a concern for other people’s well being; both their colleagues and the less fortunate, while at the same time developing their inner selves by struggling to acquire virtue and deepen their relationship with God.
The doctrinal and spiritual formation given at Fanusi Study Centre is entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church.
